MARKETING MANTRAS BEFORE YOU PLAN AN APP

MARKETING MANTRAS BEFORE YOU PLAN AN APP

Business Leadership Manager, the designation, which I farther bigger than the alphabets involved within the designation, undoubtedly, comes with a huge round of responsibilities and relevant set of learning experience. And luckily, my business card tells the same designation, under my name. Why have I called myself lucky? Reason is very simple but with full in-depth meaning, my job as a business leadership manager, has taught me a lot about the each layer of marketing, not just from a seller’s perspective but also from the buyer’s as well.

I would share my set of experience, which I earned and learned while working with Abhinav Singh in Techugo Pvt. Ltd. Basically we deal in the Mobile App Development, which sounds boring and common to many of the readers, but what they fail to understand the charisma of dealing with the clients from different levels, while reading further, you would explore the galaxy of marketing strategy.

There had been numerous incidents where I have shifted the client’s meetings minutes, and found that client’s marketing approach need to be improvised further. Today, I am wearing the shoe of a Marketing Guru, to enlighten the client’s perspective about marketing their brand. Most of us have the knowledge, but we fail to acquire the vision. To make the job easier, famous coffee brand -Nescafe, has many competitors, but till date why only Nescafe has ruled the business, calculation is simple, everybody has the ingredient, but nobody has the vision. This only aspect, if missing, leads the brand nowhere but only helps your brand to doom.

Clients come to us from different background and with different requirements, I always tell the clients, that if sales are the engine that drives a business, then good customer service and building a high level of customer satisfaction is the fuel. This theory implicates largely on client’s consumer base, and generates the customer loyalty, although it is the critical determinant of success in driving sales and growing the business, since it involves the criticism and sarcastic comments hurled on you from every corner. But it comes with its own set of fancies and beauty and if followed well, then would help you to gain popularity in no time, but only if followed with the complete guidance. There are four levels of customer satisfaction, all based on the degree to which you meet customer expectations. The higher the level you achieve, the more you will build customer loyalty and the greater will be your success.

Another important marketing tool is to select the RIGHT Mobile App developer for your brand. Most of the client judge and pick the app developers on the basis of cost efficiency, which results in some horror for their brand. While picking up the right app developer to brand your product, you need to judge the app developers on three basic characteristics: profile of app developing company, brands worked for and reviews on the software-development companies portals, like : Clutch, Extract & Goodfirms. These steps help you to pick the correct option for your work to be done, else by choosing a wrong developer, unfortunately you get to know the output by the mid of your project, which would create further ruckus in publicizing your brand.

Most of the clients approach us to develop an app, which would have the billions of feature in one go, but this is not the right step to follow, since giving too many app features at one time, would cause over digestion issue at your consumer’s end. To brief it little more further, I would cite the example of WhatsApp, the calling feature was introduced after a year gap, same goes with Apple, today a myriad of features are added in iPhone, but this all was done gradually over the years, not at the first shot only. Same strategy should be followed by the clients to launch few basic features at the initial stage to make the consumer go heavily comfortable with their app, and then later on additional features can be added.

Another feature which is the most adorable Mobile App marketing strategy for the investors is REVENUE. As per the research 72% are the revenue seeker from their app, whereas rest 28% are merely looking to have an app out of their passion or adding a feather to their cap. Unfortunately, clients forget that revenue cannot be yielded from the app only, but unless it is market well, then no one notices it. Clients don’t need to put their efforts on developers, since developing team is well-efficient with their job, so more focus should be given on marketing. For marketing, few steps need to be taken care: campaigning, know your consumer, know your competitors and learn what’s trending in your business field. To elaborate further, every company is not Rolls Royce, whose name is publicity itself, due to the high rise in the competition, one need to develop a strong market strategy to take a strong hold on the business field. Else, tech market is already flooded with large and unknown mobile apps, but they remain lost, because they were not sold well.

Last but not the least, I would like to suggest that examine your business, when you are able to accomplish this on a regular basis, you will be in a position to dominate the marketplace and achieve remarkable rates of revenue growth and profitability. Remember, to amaze your consumers, the only limit is your own imagination.

A TECH-CHAPTER FROM GOOGLE I/O 2016

A TECH-CHAPTER FROM GOOGLE I/O 2016

Google has always left the world and specially me, speechless with it’s unique and invincible tech concepts. It has been proven further with their recent announcements made at Google I/O 2016. I have always adored the way, Google announces it’s new set of technologies. Even this year, Google I/O was initiated with 7,000 developers and journalists at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, California. But something which became the center of excellence was the way Google did things, it was highly unprecedented this time, being compared to previous years. This year Google introduced some bold new consumer-facing products that reflected technology’s biggest trends.

So, I would be sharing a brief of all the tech gadgets introduced within this conference. There are various gadgets, announced during the Google I/O 2016. Here is the excerpts from the tech-story.

At first, I would like to talk about the Google Home, which is actually a loudspeaker with internet-connection that responds to voice commands and offers access to a smart assistant in the cloud. Albeit, Google’s vision has crossed the imagination, since this device integrates with Google Cast, the home entertainment technology that powers the company’s Chromecast streaming adapter and is increasingly finding its way into stereo systems and TV sets as well. Due to the integration, Google Home brings voice control to any Chromecast-equipped television. This enable voice access to Google-powered calendars and messaging, and can control internet-connected light bulbs and other appliances.

For my bad luck Google Home has not been released yet and cost has not been discussed as well, else it would have been in my lounge.

Another gadget, which wooed me thoroughly with its impressive specifications, is Mi Box, which is a courtesy of Chinese phone maker Xiaomi. It is combined with Android-based gaming with video services like Netflix, Hulu, Showtime, and HBO Now. Something which excites me most, is Mi Box’s base on Google’s Android TV platform, which make it run on TVs from Sony and Sharp, among others. It’s not the first set-top to use Android TV, but it is the first to support 4K video playback and HDR.

Another sad story to conclude with is, no clue on cost has been revealed yet.

To end the gadget war, I would love to share another gadget, which I found quite exciting and engaging, is Daydream, which is a huge leap in the field of virtual reality. Google has opened a new era of VR, by not just focusing on a single VR headset; instead, it’s working with mobile-phone makers, including Samsung and HTC, to manufacture VR–optimized phones, available later this year, that will work with Daydream headsets. These headsets will be more comfortable than Google’s previous Cardboard viewers, and will come with a remote control for playing games and navigating menus. Google plans to sell its own Daydream headset as well.

The company has partnered with HBO, Hulu, Netflix, and sports leagues like the NBA to build VR Apps that will populate a Daydream version of the Google Play store. YouTube, which is owned by Google, is getting ready to launch on Daydream as well.

With these incredible tech gadgets news, I shut my Tech Diary for today. Keep reading to feed yourself with the latest tech updates.

CRUNCHY SOUND OF IOS 10 GRAPEVINE

CRUNCHY SOUND OF IOS 10 GRAPEVINE

Nothing goes wrong with most of us when we get a jittery feel, after listening to the speculations related to upcoming iPhone 10. There is nothing new to mention that iOS 9 had been around for a while, but something which gives me Goosebumps when it comes to Apple, then there is nothing in the iPhone, which makes me go against the brand, but I yearn for more every time, since there are constant alluring features in different iPhone handsets, which keep on releasing.

We all know iOS 9 has been fluttering in the market for a few months and now something big everyone is eyeing is related to the announcement of Apple’s next mobile operating system, iOS 10. The question which is on every body’s lips is “What’s the release date of iOS 10?” Although it’s a hard core fact that Apple usually or I would say typically, Apple announces, every new iOS device, in every June at its WWDC event in the US, with the final release date scheduled to coincide with the launch of new iPhones in the following September: this year, consequently, I also expected iOS 10 to be made available for consumers at some point in September 2016, but no details are yet confirmed, and the internet is flooded with the rumors related to iOS 10.

From the ongoing rumor mills, I have picked my set of favorite features, which I want desperately in upcoming iOS 10. We have been informed that within iOS 10, users will be able to hide Apple’s own apps, such as Stocks, Game Center, Tips and more, so these apps will be invisible on user’s screen. Going on with the speculations, it has been suggested, that iOS 10 will be unprecedentedly difficult to jailbreak thanks to a new security system that Apple is working on called ‘Rootless’. This system “is aimed at preventing even administrator-level users from gaining access to certain file systems on an iPhone, iPad or Mac – though it’s believed that it can be disabled on the company’s desktop OS… Apple has been plugging holes in iOS for years, holes that jail breakers have historically used to gain access to parts of the system that they would normally not be able to interact with. It’s this opening up of iOS at a fundamental level that is likely to be thwarted by Apple’s ‘Rootless’ technology, leaving jail breakers very much at the beginning of what could be a long and difficult journey”, as stated by Redmond Pie.

One another set of rumour we have received is, iOS 10 would have a wonderful feature called: HomeKit hub, possibly called ‘Home’. HomeKit is a healthy fruit from the basket of Internet of Things, this feature would allow the user to control home appliances and other non-traditional connected devices from their iPhone or Mac. Though, Apple has already introduced this feature, but availability of this on an Apple device is still a question. This is followed by the most interesting patent signed by Apple recently, which states that Apple is considering a new feature that would enable iPhone users to view at a glance whether their contacts are available for a conversation, and where they are.

So, I am finally and desperately willing to have these features in iOS 10, regardless of it’s releasing date, and yes…no prize for guessing, whenever it’s going to hit the market, the first place it will find to fit, will be my jeans pocket..

Till then… Happy Waiting!

TECH CRY OF A BACKPACKER

TECH CRY OF A BACKPACKER

Oh gosh!! This phone doesn’t fit into my pocket anymore…

When I wrote this line, I could imagine, how many girls out there, can feel a bit of themselves within this statement. Am not sure, how others have and in which situations used this statement, but as far as I am concerned, this one liner I have screamed to myself many a times, while doing self-conversation. Hey do you think am insane, then hold your breath- I am an independent and worth to mention a beautiful female and for your surprise a tech-freak as well and working as a CTO with a top mobile app development company- Techugo. Ok, enough of my precise version of introduction, let’s proceed with the groans my mobile has made, while trying to get adjusted within my pocket.

To initiate with my casual day’s work, my mobile doesn’t deem imperfect to me, since while commuting daily, it lies on my car dashboard, and at work it remains on my work station, so for work, my mobile is a blessing for me, which exist with a noteworthy presence. But the problem arises, when I opt for my de-stressing exercise and that is travelling, and I have no qualms in confessing that I am a proud true blue backpacker, and my cool and refreshing attitude has led me to visit and experience the culture of those states within India, which have just been discussed, but mostly go unnoticed by a traveler. So during such trips, where I have been a REAL me, faced the problem of keeping the solid hardware to submerge within my jeans pocket and at the same time posing as a most comfortable traveler. My job is demanding and client reach me at any point of time, so carrying a mobile with me, even when am tracking is not an option but a Hobson’s Choice.

Unfortunately, many a times I had to skip various travelling adventures due to the loss of mobile while attempting, but since my work anyhow has been and will always be my top-notch priority, so keeping the mobile aside from me, can never be a choice for me.

To soothe down my pain a little, I do remember, at CES 2013, Samsung, caught my eye, when I noticed a video showing off the dream come true, in the form of a foldable mobile device, but it was predicted by the tech-pundits, It would take nearly half a decade, so I decided to keep shushh with my agony and decided to carry my fate into my pocket, till I realize that finally that fated day might finally be upon us by 2017.

So, as the rumor mills have suggested, though the confirmation is still ambiguous, but Samsung is ready to show the world the first smartphone that will not only have a bendable display but also fold out from a smartphone to a small tablet. And it could be revealed as early as MWC 2017.

I know the nitty-gritty involved in creating a hardware which has foldable displays, since there are various parts involved that may not bend so easily, primary of which is the battery. Depending on what form “Project Valley”, the codename given to this folding smartphone, will take, Samsung may not yet have to deal with that part of the puzzle. In that case, many of the other components could remain rigid while the display folds in the middle, pretty much like its 2013 made-up ad. This device will have flexible OLED screens, with one folding like a cosmetic compact and another that transforms from a 5-inch smartphone-sized screen to a display roughly eight inches large tablet.

Ripping off, my tech skin, I just want the technology to fit somehow in creating the foldable and bendable mobile device, so I can pack it in my picnic blanket at any time with no travelling regrets involved.

A TECH ESCAPE OF THE SCAPEGOAT GENERATION

I am young, wild and free!!!

These three words depicted my personality much better than any other word in the McMillan dictionary, a year ago. That was the time, when I looked up to myself as a torch bearer for my era of youth, where the ideas are tuned into concept in a jiffy. I considered life is all about enjoyment; I loved shopping & hanging out with my friends aimlessly and I hated the nagging phase of my parents while asking for my daily pocket money, undoubtedly I enjoyed the free space and the attention I received, while posting numerous per 30 minute basis, selfies on FB. That phase, I assumed a heaven for myself, till 28th Oct, 2015.

Curious to know? Well, this date transformed a young brat into a mature web designer, so today I can boast easily that I not just represent my era on the personal but also on the professional ground as well. To continue with my saga, I have done Web & Graphic Designing course, after being influenced by my brother, who also happens to be a Graphic Designer. On 28th Oct, 2015 I entered the premises of an MNC in Noida, casually with my friend, since he had a scheduled interview with one of the top mobile app development company- Techugo. On being greeted, I asked a random question from the company’s HR, “Can I also appear for an Interview, though I don’t have resume with me”, on which I got a reply “YES”. I was taken aback for a while, because I assumed I would be denied to take interview, but I was allowed. I gave interview, and to my surprise I was selected also, but my friend was not, it was quite a Bollywood situation for me. I joined the company, dispersing the negative force which I was pushed towards by my friends, since they thought I would be working and would be missing being young and all the luxuries it involves with.

To my surprise, each and every person from senior most to the junior management, helped me to feel an integral part of the company. Today after almost 9 months, I am an independent young girl of merely 19 years of age and getting the moolah magic in my bank account every month with my salary, whereas my friends still look for the pocket-money from their parents. On the contrary, to my parents past nagging, now I am a cause of their pride and continuous praise.

Undoubtedly, I have polished my skills and refined my talent after being associated with Techugo from each angle, I have been given various opportunities to experience and explore the latest tech-trends more deeply. For instance, recently I designed a PPT about Mobile Payment, where I learnt that 39 percent of all mobile users in the U.S. had made a mobile payment in 2015. This is up from 14 percent in 2014 and by my estimations pit will be in the 70 percent range by 2017. Unknowingly, we mistake, mobile payment as one only thing but actually it is a huge market with different wings spread. Mobile payments have been constantly evolving, with more recognizable brands endorsing this feature to adopt the advance technology and consequently offer what consumers and businesses want in terms of apps and services that allow them to pay with their phones.

Google has recently announced HANDS FREE. It’s a new mobile payment app that uses either Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, this app allows you to keep your phone in your wallet or purse. Google is also tinkering with facial recognition to confirm an individual’s identity.

When it comes to “pay” as a feature, Apple, Android and Samsung are just the tip of the iceberg. More tech companies will continue to roll out their mobile payment platforms. You’ll be able to make purchases directly from social media apps like Facebook and use WhatsApp as a commerce channel. Big data, beacons and sensors are already helping merchants reach customers. With big data, merchants and retailers will be able to send targeted coupons, promotions, flash sales and even the chance to complete a purchase in advance.

Being a little impatient, I am restless to experience this tech-feature, no matter what, how and when it will happen but it would certainly going to help the young blood like me, who would drop in their pocket anytime to buy the best of all of the world.

And one last thing I forgot to mention, now my three words characteristics has been replaced by some new and enticing adjectives, and now my characteristics speaks something like this: Young, Ambitious & Independent. So way to go to edit this 3 words very soon once again…till then stay young and remain connected…Ciao

HOW TO BUILD HEALTHCARE APP

HOW TO BUILD HEALTHCARE APP

Why Healthcare App

Health is an integral part of every one’s life, and its relevance can never be taken for granted. Due to the spark of technology, it has now become possible throughout the world to diagnose and treat new and existing diseases. Undoubtedly, apps are the future of healthcare, but if you have a game-changing medical app idea, you need to take special care to protect the precious data your app will handle. In the current market scenario, launching a healthcare app is a good idea considering the number of potential users across the globe. But there are a few things that are good to know before you start developing your own healthcare app:

A Unique UI/UX for Health app

Health app is basically used by the people who either need it for others or need it for themselves, in either case the technology, which is used in healthcare app, must be user-friendly, but the healthcare app has its own set of requirements. Good UI/UX is required for every app, but with the high frequency of data input and amount of data in healthcare apps, the design needs some extra effort. In order to develop great healthcare apps, the importance of UX (user experience) and UI (user interface) design can not be avoided.

Since the health app is patient-centric. The key is to create a design that makes the patient process flow as seamless as possible. If the healthcare app is patient-centric, then everything must have the user experience of the patient in mind. A healthcare app is accessed by people who are medically disadvantaged, so the UI should be much easier to access than other apps. This means mostly people who are ill or undergoing symptoms of ill health or other chronic conditions should be able to navigate through the app with a minimum modicum of effort.

People with various levels of health discomforts use this app, so the user experience must be crafted with the most positive look, feel in terms of content, color schemes, alert sounds. The app should be able to create a positive ambience for the users that their health care concerns will be addressed here without any hassles.

Healthcare App Data Security and Confidentiality

Healthcare apps need to be specially taken care of due to its security and confidential aspects. While making healthcare apps designers and developers need to take one extra step to make sure that their products aren’t just functional and beautiful, but also safe. The first and the foremost functionality to be watched for, is the apps’ functionality, which would ensure that user data is protected from data thieves and other privacy threats.

Consider the regulations based on the app market, because the healthcare data is so sensitive, which can directly affect the user’s safety and privacy. For instance, for an app to be launched in US market, the app must comply with the Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA). Same goes for the app to be launched in the European or Asian market. Do check and comply all the rules & regulations of the concerned app market.

Include the privacy policy that explains what information is being collected and how it will be used. As the owner of a healthcare app you need to keep patients’ protected health information (PHI) a top priority. On avoiding the regulations, the chances of getting your app rejected go much higher, because even the app stores are very particular about the health care guidelines.

Value Added Services

You should get the optimum use of your healthcare app. Add more number of emergency services to your healthcare app to ensure maximum effectiveness and value for the healthcare app. Healthcare app is fully based and focus on diagnosis and suggestions, add Ambulances on call, ICU on wheels, online pharmacies and home delivery of medication after diagnosis and prescription are complete.

App Testing

App testing is a crucial phase to any app development. No user wants to use a bug installed app, so make a goal to make your app error free. Specially the app testing in healthcare apps, is much more required, failing which can lead to some serious consequences.

The app testing can be performed either manually or with automation tools, but needs to be performed on the specific guidelines, such as: testing the security and authenticity for PII, PHI and other regulations such as HIPAA compliance, testing of the app data from different units, from different devices, networks, and locations, testing with poor connectivity, testing the app on different mobile platforms (iOS, Android, Windows etc.), and browsers for compatibility.

In the case of an emergency if health care providers cannot access patient data on the app, it may lead to the death of the patient or may lead to some form of impairment, so the app testing has to be done from every aspect and in every situations like signal drops, refresh rates for the app data etc. This step is most necessary, since the level of dependence and criticality is higher in this nature of app than others.

It’s not surprising anymore, the way the people adapt to mobile technology and looking for convenient approaches during illness has also increased the demand for mobile health apps.

If you have a brilliant idea to help people live healthier, more fulfilling live, you can get in touch with our team to discuss further your concept to bring into reality. The discussion would help you to gain a better insight of your app requirement. With Techugo, you can create a healthcare app, which can make a huge difference in the life of a patient.

BLUE- A PROMISE FOR A BRAND CREATION

BLUE- A PROMISE FOR A BRAND CREATION

Colors, always play an integral part in each of our life and for a graphic designer, it solely, means to play colors at every inch of job. I read somewhere, color is the basic element of the visual communication. And I think somehow color reflects and affects our mood too. If I talk about on a general pattern, the different shades of colors from the pallets thrown by nature diversify each moment of our life.

To talk about my personal experience, a bluish sky with cute rainbow causes happiness filled with excitement within me to rush myself to terrace and indulge into kite flying session. On the contrary, an autumn’s day, a dark and gray sky gives a horror within me, and make me switch on my room’s light even in the full broader daylight. Albeit, I was taught by my teachers, family and books also that each color has its separate meaning that represents the language of them.

While designing many of the apps, I have noticed that Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Skype and the company am associated with – Techugo, also, have used various shades of blue as their branding color. Is this merely a coincidence, or a pre-planned calculated marketing tool? I got confused and decided to dig in further within Google search, what I found was really impressive and logical. Blue color has been considered with positive qualities such as trust, integrity and efficiency. This color conveys the communication, logic and a connection between the content and the on looker. That’s the reason a color which translates the best adjectives such as: calm, reflection and serenity within it, it becomes noteworthy for the brands to choose it.

So, basically the social media platforms play with the psychology of color with calming qualities that social media apps want to align their brand identity with. On the technical front, blue contrasts nicely with text, and it gets easier to spot the word and it doesn’t take over the screen. Just to exemplify: a yellow or red twitter logo color would not make the tabs more visible and clear to the users, in the same way yellow would be too light to notice on a light background, and a purple would be too close to the color of the text to make it prominent.

In a nutshell, it’s thoroughly fascinating that simply changing something as small as color can completely change the outcome of something and can help a company to turn into a brand.  Whether it is dark, light or any other shade of Blue, at the end it relates to the mind and affect us emotionally.

ERADICATING GENDER DIGITAL DISPARITY

ERADICATING GENDER DIGITAL DISPARITY

Brigham Young said, “You educate a man, you educate a man. You educate a woman, you educate a generation”, when I look at this statement, it sounded surreal to me, back in teens. How come woman education lead to a generation education, I found it rhetorical merely?

But my growing years made me realize the truth lies behind the statement, when I looked around my vicinity and found the negligence and the lack of awareness crowding abruptly in the society. I agreed that an educated woman has the skills, information and self-confidence that she needs to be a better parent, worker and citizen. I yearn to create awareness through technology, since technology is where my forte lies. I am not a typical feminist, but I know the relevance of women education in not just in India, but every society. Recently, I read an interesting piece on internet, stating that India will be the brightest spot globally for smartphone companies in 2016. When sales of such devices are forecast to grow at 29%, while the global growth is estimated to be tepid at about 7% to 1.9 billion units. Given this scenario, I think how it is possible when a large chunk of population in India, especially of women section is still uneducated or have no reach to internet. If I talk about the rural India, where the maximum potential exists but unfortunately due to the scarcity of resources, much of the talent go unnoticed. Had there been a proper channel to source the knowledge to ruralizes, a noticeable change could be acquired.

But sooner, an another interesting fact was established by the tech-world- Internet search giant Google has tied up with Tata Trusts in rural areas of India, where girls have now been trained to use the Internet and teach others in turn. The initiative plans to reach 45,000 villages and 5,000,000 women in rural communities over the next 18 months.

Named “Internet Saathi,” the initiative will use “Internet Cycle Carts”, bicycles basically, to reach rural villages and educate women on the basic benefits of using the internet. On the back of each bicycle is a cart that carries resources needed to educate the women. For a minimum of two days a week for four to six months, local women will be able to learn for free from the bicyclist, or “Internet Saathi.” In order to ensure efficient communication, the bicyclist will be a trainer sourced from a local NGO or community group. Bikes will work in clusters of three villages at a time. After making sure that the women are able to use internet devices independently, the cycle carts will move on to the next cluster.

I truly believe, this initiative would let the Indian women become educated and being of bringing socio-economic changes.  So, now we all can hope for better days while all women of our country will be enlightened and educated and will soon be reading this blog in some remote corner of our country.

Till then let’s keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best…

SMART FLOSS OF PLASTIC-POLLUTION

SMART FLOSS OF PLASTIC-POLLUTION

My mobile died this morning…RIP my favorite mobile, but sorry also, because I am gonna dump you in my trash bin just after writing this emotional dose. Oops, my favorite CD just broke or scratched in my DVD player, so their destination is now only in the trash bin. We update this status oftenly as a FB post or WhatsApp status along with a picture of tethered phone/CD, to garner more views, and in return we get all the sympathetic tone messages and some even cross the limits by giving virtual wreathe as a reply. Most of us adopt the same habit, whenever we want to get rid of unwanted CD or an old smartphone, we usually dump them in the trash or in some rare cases, dead mobile phone keeps on lying in an unknown corner of our room. It’s human nature, whenever a gadget becomes technically dead, we never carry them along with us, since they become an ugly piece to complement our personality.

It’s an undeniable truth, sometimes to make a pace with the upcoming technology or at times, to get rid of the dead technical pieces, we let them to be décor of trash bin, but unknowingly, we create severe damage to our environment, NO, I don’t want to sound like a typical environmentalist, dying to acquire a Nobel prize, but the reason why I brought up this ubiquitous issue with you today, has a different reason today. I know somehow my first Para has already incurred some sort of guilt within few out there, and rest our cursing me and think me as a publicity monger. So hold your horses and let there be a halt on your ever growing negative thought process..neither am a contender for the Nobel prize nor am a social climber, but have a valid reason to discuss the environment today.

I agree with most of you, what other way can be, but research scientists with IBM have discovered a recycling process to help to convert our old smartphones and CDs into non-toxic, high-strength plastics. Isn’t it news to feel glad? Certainly, what’s done cannot be undone, but what is about to happen can be controlled at least.

According to a press statement by IBM, every year the world generates more than 2.7 million tons of a plastic, known as polycarbonates, to create common household items, such as CDs, baby bottles, eyeglass lenses and smartphones. Over time, polycarbonates decompose and leach BPA, a chemical which potentially damaging effects on the brain.

Recently IBM scientists from the company’s Almaden lab in San Jose, California, have discovered a new, one-step chemical process that converts polycarbonates into plastics safe for water purification, fiber optics and medical equipment. IBM Researchers added a fluoride reactant and heat to old CDs to create this new plastic. The new plastic has temperature and chemical resistance superior to the original substance.

“Polycarbonates are common plastics in our society – especially in consumer electronics in the form of LED screens, smartphones and Blue-rays, as well as everyday eyeglass lenses, kitchen utensils and household storage gear,” said Gavin O Jones, PhD, research staff member, IBM Research – Almaden (San Jose, Calif.).

So from now on you can keep your old smartphones and broken or discarded CDs a little safer, so eventually these pieces would turn a usable plastic gear to be used in your home daily and you would be your MOMMY’s favorite…

TECH STEROIDS THROUGH SMART SENSORS

TECH STEROIDS THROUGH SMART SENSORS

I am happy to be a Graphic designer, at least it quenches down my ever-growing thirst for technology. This statement I keep on boasting to my friends as and when I get the chance to prove the worth of my chosen career. Albeit, I would not deny the fact that technology has made us handicap and even for the simplest job in the world, we depend on technology, and I think it’s not bad either, because it makes the life easier and bring comfort to our lives. Technology has reached an extent today where people find it hard to replace it manually and somehow it has turned out to be a status symbol to most of us to flaunt the gadgets.

On the other hand technology has helped a huge chunk of people out there to earn handsome amount through the newest gadgets, but since the perks are raised, working hours too , and has led finally to complex lifestyle, where one has got the least available ME time. I can vouch for most of us from the working class like me, we spend our maximum time in innovative ideas and bringing them alive to concept, to beat the existing competition and sustain in the gadget freak world, we find it almost next to impossible to sit and spend time with families and friends, because of the plain Jane reason that after being home we are too much occupied that we don’t have time for our kids and friends.

This is the price we have to pay for using and developing technology constantly, but IoT has refuted my belief by bringing the gadgets to us which can help us to get our work accomplished for every single job related to our day-to-day life with merely a press of one button.

If you are not aware what IoT is, then let me explain a bit more deeply about IoT. It stands for Internet of Things (IoT), it is becoming an increasing topic of interest among technology giants and business communities. The hype is not baseless as there are enough evidences to support the success of “Internet of Things” in the coming years. According to a report by Gartner there will be a 30% increase in the number of connected devices in 2016 as compared to 2015 with 6.4 billion IoT devices entering the realm of Internet of things. The number is further expected to increase to 26 billion by 2020.

Many people mistakenly think of IoT as an independent technology. Interestingly Internet of things is being enabled by the presence of other independent technologies which make fundamental components of IoT. The fundamental components that make internet of things are based on Hardware-Making physical objects responsive and giving them capability to retrieve data and respond to instructions, another component is Software-Enabling the data collection, storage, processing, manipulating and instructing, this all the technical term, which I am 100% sure none of you would have understood, even I being from a technical background, had to scratch my head twice to understand what it means, so in layman’s language IoT is the communication infrastructure which consists of protocols and technologies which enable two physical objects to exchange the data, simple.

Undoubtedly, Internet of Things is the new buzzword around Internet circles. People are learning about new devices that are being made every day. There are many gadgets which are associated with IoT today and maximum big brands have grasped this technology to allure the big number of customers, and the list is never ending from TV, mobiles, home appliances, décor and many other interesting gadgets to be acquired.

Unluckily, like any other technology, there are challenges, which make the viability of IoT doubtful. Security is one of the major concerns of experts who believe virtually endless connected devices and information sharing can severely compromise one’s security and well-being. Unlike other hacking episodes which compromise online data and privacy with IoT devices can open gateway for an entire network to be hacked.

One such flaw is well presented by Andy Greenberg on wired.com, where he works with hackers to remotely kill his Jeep on the highway. Another very relevant example is provided by W. David Stephenson in his post Amazon Echo: is it the smart home Trojan Horse?. You can estimate the amount of personal and private data the connected devices will be producing once they are on a network. The major challenge for IoT tech companies is to figure out how the communication in the Internet of things realm can be made truly secure.

Whatever the flaws are, but one thing is for sure, with all these cool devices and services I could smell the amazing future at its great comfort we all are going to have… we can count the gadgets on our tips whether it’s that smartphone in our pocket, or a home security device recently fixed, or younger brother’s gaming gadgets and most importantly, our home’s manager- our mother’s favorite home devices like TV, lighting and home appliances, we can find Internet of Things rule everywhere and unquestionably has made our lifestyle a lot safer and more comfortable.
